Taurus
Taurus, the Bull. TaurusTaurus, the Bull, is the second sign of the Zodiac. The sun enters it on or around April 20. Taurus belongs to the element earth, its quality is fixed and its charge is negative. Its Ruler is Venus, and the moon exalts in it. Its motto is: "I have." In the horoscope chart, Taurus brings a slow stubbornness and a materialistic perspective to planets or Houses therein.

Your sign

Sun sign. Those who have Taurus as their star sign are born when the sun was in Taurus, normally April 20 - May 20 (it differs slightly from year to year, because of the leap years). Therefore, it is also - more correctly - called the sun sign.
The sun in your horoscope is your natural self - what you are when you relax, when other planets in your horoscope are not active. It is your basic drive, a character you have as an ingredient - more or less evident in all you do and all you are. It is the most important point in your horoscope chart, but of course it is not the only thing that describes your personality. You need to look at all the components of your birth chart, to get a correct astrological description of yourself.
If your sun sign is Taurus, you are usually quite relaxed, sort of laid-back even when involved in something. It is natural for the Taurus to be slow, calm, and conservative in the sense of being reluctant to change. The natural habitat for the Taurus is working the soil, farming and handicrafts. Materialism, things concrete and solid.
A Zodiac sign does not give exactly the same influence all through its 30°. Its first third has something of a cardinal quality, whatever the quality of the sign as a whole is, its second third is slightly more fixed in quality, and the last third is more mutable.
If the sun is in the beginning of Taurus, you are very handy and have a need to do things, make use of your ability and strive for prosperity. If it's in the middle of Taurus, you are very patient, indeed, prefering a slow tempo with most things, and quite easy to please. If the sun is at the end of Taurus, you can be a bit clumsy, to your own surprise, and tend to get impatient when things are more difficult than you expected. Although you like things as they are, you still tend to strive for some change.

Your father

The sun in the horoscope also represents your father (the mother is represented by the moon).
If you have the sun in Taurus, your relation to your father is what it is, through time. You trust each other and can spend time together without needing to do anything, not even talking. You have a sense of knowing each other well, although you don't talk much. Mostrly you get along, but if there is a grudge it can remain for long.

The planets

When another planet or other point of the horoscope is in Taurus, it is also affected by the sign, getting something of its character. Here are those points, what they stand for, and how they are affected by Taurus:

The planets.
Sun   basic drive - Taurus brings patience and calm.
Moon   longing - Taurus brings simple needs and emotional stability.
Mercury   curiosity - Taurus brings careful thinking and reluctance to speak much.
Venus   affection - Taurus brings enjoyment of simple things and of pleasuring the senses.
Mars   aggression - Taurus brings grim determination and strength.
Jupiter   luck - Taurus brings material gains and capacity to increase them.
Saturn   duty - Taurus brings conservatism and fixed values.
Uranus   contemplation - Taurus brings an inward mind and an interest reserved for what's palpable.
Neptune   fantasy - Taurus brings an imagination limited to the well-known, and concrete dreams.
Pluto   catharsis - Taurus brings long-foreseeable concrete changes that last.
Ascendant, AC   attitude - Taurus brings neutral behavior towards others, and an everyday appearance.
Medium Coeli, MC   self-image - Taurus brings a modest view of one's talents, to the point of underestimating oneself.

The Houses

In the astrological Houses, the Zodiac signs also bring their characters, influencing the environments described by the Houses. Here are the twelve Houses, what they stand for, and how Taurus affects them:
  1. Identity - Taurus makes you seem slow and uncomplicated.
  2. Resources - Taurus makes you have what you need.
  3. Communication - Taurus makes you slow to find friends, but keep them long, and you are not keen on theoretical learning.
  4. Home - Taurus makes your family life calm and secure.
  5. Pastime - Taurus makes you content, maybe lazy, in your spare time.
  6. Work - Taurus makes you trustworthy and competent at work, never hurrying.
  7. Partners - Taurus makes your relations slow to start, then intimate and long-lasting.
  8. Unknown - Taurus makes fate have few surprises for you.
  9. Travel - Taurus makes you unwilling to change your whereabouts.
  10. Carreer - Taurus makes you indifferent to carreer, but steady at the position you have.
  11. Ideals - Taurus makes you nourish conservative values, with no need to spread them around.
  12. Shortcomings - Taurus makes your life a bit unstable, and it may be hard for you to get the means you need.
Of course, all of the above is very general, mainly to give you an idea of how the sign works in the horoscope. You need to study your horoscope chart carefully, to make a nuanced and deeper interpretation.
