As with all astrology, that of business and finance depends on the whole horoscope - the planets, their zodiac signs, their aspects. The ingredients continu­ously form patterns and relations, in the many different cyclic movements of celestial mechanics. A trustworthy astrological analysis must take them all into account.
     Still, each specific ingredient plays its role, which can be interpreted by itself. Saturn has a grave such role in astrology. The planet stands for tradition and obligation, which usually makes its influence one of complication and difficulty. Since the dawn of astrology, it has been watched with anticipation, and its malefic influence has been feared.
     There are good sides to it, as well. Few things in the world are one sided. Saturn is the voice of reason, and the link to the past, the guardian against the folly easily caused by haste and carelessness. Its force assures balance and stability - but the price can often be high.
     In financial astrology, its orb through the zodiac, as well as the aspects it forms with other planets, should be watched carefully. They reveal where problems and setbacks are to be expected, where complication will increase and reform will backfire. And it calculates the true results of businesses gone haywire - as in the case of the IT market of the last few years.
     Saturn takes almost 30 years to travel through the twelve signs of the zodiac. That is an average of about 2.5 years in each sign. When Saturn is in a sign, the kinds of business related to that sign will be affected - they will experience difficulties, grim revision and complications. During that time, they will simply be bad business - but after the Saturn passage, they will in most cases revive on a more sound level than before.

Here are the business significations of each of the twelve zodiac signs. When Saturn travels through a sign, that means there will be complications, worries and setbacks in the line of business specified.
     Astrologically speaking, Saturn enters traditional values and responsibilities, which tend to reverse development and renewal. Values of old stand in the way of future prospects. Difficulties, which may first have been ignored or neglected, rise and need consideration. Things become more complicated than before seen. Drab reality sets in.

	Aries energy	All kinds of energy, its industy and supply. Also heating.
	Taurus agriculture	Farming, livestock, gardening, and industry relating to it.
	Gemini communication	Everyday communication - short travel, mail, phone, media. Also lower education.
	Cancer medicine	Health care and medicine, and all its industry.
	Leo metal	Any type of metal, its business and industry. Also power structures and ownership.
	Virgo food	The food industry and grocery business. The work market. Insurance.
	Libra banking	Banks, money transaction, and financial business. Trade politics and law.
	Scorpio entertainment	Emotional business - entertainment and art, but also advertising and goodwill values.
	Sagittarius travel	Distant travel. Reform and development.
	Capricorn construction	Construction and real estate.
	Aquarius research	Scientific research. Higher education.
	Pisces shipping	Anything maritime. Shipping, but also water supply. Beverages.

Saturn dates in the zodiac
Here are the dates of Saturn in the zodiac signs, since early 1967 on to 2005. When Saturn is in a sign, its influence according the above will act on the line of business the sign is related to (see the table above).
     The reason for the planet's multiple entries and exits in some signs, is its retrograde movement. Astrology is geocentric - seen from earth - and because of earth's own orbit, other planets have periods where they seem to go backward in the sky. From a geocentric per­spective, they move retrograde, and occasionally, that takes them from a sign to the previous one, later to turn again and move forward in the zodiac.
