Welcome to the world of astrology and horoscopes! Here you find an introduction to the basics of astrology, in-depth presentations of the Zodiac and your sun sign, astrological predictions based on the outer planets, famous horoscopes and elaborate forecasts.
Here are also several examples of mundane astrology - astrological principles applied to institutions, countries and the whole world. This way of using astrology was in the past much more common than personal horoscopes.
The astrology basics present the astrological components as they are interpreted in the personal horoscope. They are the twelve Zodiac signs, the twelve planets, the twelve Houses, and the five aspects.
There are astrologers who use additional celestial bodies, as well as additional aspects. Regarding aspects and many other things, I stick to the fundamentals specified by Ptolemaios in his classic on astrology: Tetrabiblos from the 2nd century CE. If you are interested in further reading about astrology, I recommend that book. It is the one true source of western astrology.

The Benefactor in Love

Cancer
Cancer Zodiac Sign Compatibility

Your Sign compared to other Zodiac signs in relationships. How compatible are you according to astrology? Your sun signs also show how compatible both your fathers are with you and with themselves.

AriesARIES Compatibility
The benefactor meets the contender. The latter might give the impression of yielding, but that's an illusion. Cancer is a cardinal sign, the motherly power, who insists on protecting also those who don't want to be protected. Aries certainly doesn't want to. Both demand to be the one deciding, although for different reasons. That easily makes them go separate ways, if they don't find clearly defined fields in which they rule, without colliding with the other one's intentions. That's not easy. Their fathers don't get along that well. The Cancer father tends to gain the most trust and is also the one caring the most.

TaurusTAURUS Compatibility
The benefactor meets the settler. This is a couple made to last. They both do their best to make the relation deepen and persevere, and they have no trouble finding their separate ways to contribute. Usually, a family is formed and grows in numbers as well as in years. Both value the home and family more than just about anything else. If they drift apart, it's probably due to the entrance of a third person, stealing the heart of one of them. Their fathers also participate with obvious commitment, probably soon working together at it and being at ease in each other's company.

GeminiGEMINI Compatibility
The benefactor meets the entertainer. They may develop in interesting mutual need, where Gemini prospers from Cancer's care and Cancer prospers from giving it. In a way, it's more like child and parent than two adults – but passion might very well grow, maturing their relation. It remains an arrangement where Gemini finds comfort and Cancer finds amusement, but this can take them quite far. If they break up, it's probably in agreement and they are able to remain friends. Their fathers are involved in very different ways, but equally beneficial – the Gemini father cheers them up and the Cancer father supports them with great care. They also accept each other, with their differences.

CancerCANCER Compatibility
Two benefactors meet. This would seem like a perfect match – two persons devoted to the comfort of the other. But it can get too much. Also, both want to be in control, each being sure of knowing best. They sort of compete with kindness, and it can become quite a rivalry. Taking care of another person is being the lead, so two Cancers have a hard time finding the solution. If they do, it's probably by somehow taking turns. Their fathers also care very much about the relation, each trying hard to show that he cares more than the other does. That really doesn't help much.

LeoLEO Compatibility
The benefactor meets the cavalier. If Leo is allowed center stage, this might just work. Then it's probably Cancer who really is in charge of things in their relation, although never being blunt about it. A Leo can take great pleasure in such a relation, and it can last long if Cancer feels it's worth it. Leo is unlikely to break it up unless a more promising partner appears. Their fathers treat them quite differently. The Cancer father gets involved, whereas the Leo father is displeased with not being the center of attention.

VirgoVIRGO Compatibility
The benefactor meets the scrutineer. This relation might last long, although none of them seems very pleased with it. Virgo makes demands that Cancer meets in ways that are not always what Virgo had in mind. Still, it can work. They share their responsibilities without too much conflict, and if things work out well they find that their mutual affection grows. They might not confess it readily, but they can both be pleased with the relation. Or they separate after too many quarrels. Their fathers get involved with the best intentions, which is not always good. The Virgo father claims always to know what they should do instead, and so does the Cancer father, although with a milder voice. The fathers don't get along at all.

LibraLIBRA Compatibility
The benefactor meets the conscience. This has a good chance of working out beautifully, if the two just agree on basic principles in their relation. If they don't, it is sure to end soon. They must similar ideas of what a relation is supposed to be, and be about. Also, they need to feel mutual respect, sort of like equals, although their motivations might differ. The relation they form willingly becomes solid, not threatened by anything in their surroundings. If they break up, they probably need to stop seeing each other completely. Their fathers care about their relation and get involved in it. They can even do it as sort of a team, so it's sometimes difficult for the children to keep them off.

ScorpioSCORPIO Compatibility
The benefactor meets the perturber. This easily leads to a passionate relation. Maybe disturbing, too, but definitely intense. It seems as if Cancer is constantly repairing what Scorpio is disturbing, but this dance of sorts is part of the passion. That's how they maintain their involvement. If everything is fine they can both get a bit worried. Others don't really understand what keeps them together, but it's obvious that their bonds are strong. Their fathers are involved in the relation, but seem to work in opposite directions. The Cancer father takes care to nourish the relation of the children, but the Scorpio father behaves as if wanting them to break up.

SagittariusSAGITTARIUS Compatibility
The benefactor meets the independent. This is no a perfect match, if it happens at all. Cancer craves mutual commitment aiming for a relation that lasts, whereas Sagittarius values freedom and therefore gets increasingly restless the longer the relation remains, especially if it deepens and the bonds tighten. That's true even if the glue is genuine love. Cancer can't help but try to change this about Sagittarius, which just increases the unease. If they find each other in a lasting way, it's because they both have found comfort in a life that others would call nomadic. Otherwise, Sagittarius is the most likely to leave and they are probably not even keeping in touch after that. Their fathers treat the relation of the children in opposite ways. The Cancer father struggles to make it last, maybe interfering too much at times, while the Sagittarius mostly stays away and avoids to deal with the children's relation at all.

CapricornCAPRICORN Compatibility
The benefactor meets the achiever. This can work quite well, provided that Cancer has no objections to the grand projects Capricorn frequently gets involved in. They can still solidify their relation and don't mind the prospect of building a home together. A family is fine, too. They mean it when they commit. But they continue to compete about the leadership and about whose plans should win when they have conflicting intentions. The relation can be noisy at times, when the two wills collide, but they can take it. It's a process by which they improve their relation, even when it seems like the very opposite. Actually, they are both stimulated by it. A lasting peace would make them confused and worried. If they separate, it's likely to be a joint decision with good reasons. Mostly, they can remain friends of sorts, without bitterness. If not, they make sure not to keep in touch. Their fathers both care about the relation of their children, the Cancer father by helping as much as possible – sometimes too much – and the Capricorn father by contributing as soon as he has the impression they lack something. The fathers are also able to appreciate each other, maybe even to become longtime friends.

AquariusAQUARIUS Compatibility
The benefactor meets the philosopher. They can surely be attracted to one another and form a relation that lasts for very long. They take it seriously and are not afraid of big efforts needed to make things work. They also tend to find genuine respect for one another. Cancer needs to be in charge, but it doesn't have to be obvious. Not that Aquarius cares much, as long as the leadership is not too restrictive. They need to develop their own separate interests, especially Aquarius, for the relation to remain pleasant. If they separate, it's surely after long discussion and a great deal of pondering. Their fathers both care about the relation of their children. The Cancer father gets quite involved, almost as if taking the responsibility. The Aquarius father is more open-minded about it all, but not reluctant to be of assistance. The two fathers also find it easy to appreciate one another.

PiscesPISCES Compatibility
The benefactor meets the seeker. Provided that Cancer feels sympathy and some kind of attraction towards Pisces, and Pisces feels somehow fulfilled by the relation, it can last forever and become quite sincere, even passionate. They understand each other very well and agree on most things. That on which they don't agree Cancer usually gets to decide about. Cancer is definitely in charge, and that's how both of them want it. They can be very emotional, but not often in the form of heated arguments. Instead, they tend to get overcome by sentiments, often the same ones. Their relation rarely cools down to drab routine. If they separate, Cancer is likely to take the initiative – if Pisces hasn't found another who helps in the process. Their fathers are quite engaged in the relation of their children, often almost invading their privacy. They worry a lot, and in this they find that they have something in common, so they can do some joint efforts. The Cancer father is the most persistent, though.

About Zodiac Sign Compatibility

Your Zodiac sign, also called your sun sign or star sign, is simply the position of the sun in your horoscope at the moment of your birth. The complete horoscope includes the planets, the astrological Houses, and the aspects (angles) between planets. That's a whole lot more.

Therefore, predictions based only on your Zodiac sun sign can't be very precise. Still, they give some general clues, since the sun is almost as important in the horoscope as it is in the sky.

It shows your situation and sentiment when you're not involved in other things, for example when you relax or are unoccupied by something special. Your natural state.

Now, in your relationships, being able to relax together is fundamental, so comparing your Zodiac signs says something about how compatible the two of you are.

Compatibility of Fathers

Your Zodiac sign is where the sun is in your horoscope, and in astrology the sun reveals your relation to your father. So, comparing Zodiac signs will also tell something about how compatible your fathers are to you and your partner, as well as to one another.

Synastry = Compatibility

You must be aware that other things in your horoscope may suggest something different than what your Zodiac sign compatibility suggests. Only your complete horoscope chart gives the whole picture.

So, if you're serious about using astrology to find out the compatibility with your partner, I recommend that you compare both your complete horoscopes. That's called synastry.

For a guide to how you make your own horoscope chart (and that of your partner), check here: Your Own Horoscope

Anyway, for your amusement – above are a few words about how compatible you and your partner are, based only on your sun signs. Take it for what it is.
