Venus in the Horoscope
The Power of Love in Authentic Astrology
The pleasurously creative ability
seeking joy and delight,
finding soft solutions, gentle turns.
Venus is the second planet from the sun. Since it moves inside of Earth's orbit, we see it as following the sun around the Zodiac - never more than 48° from it.
In the horoscope Venus represents pleasure, desire, and therefore also your erotic taste and actions. It is also the planet of creativity, showing in what field and to what extent you are talented. It is a beneficial planet, often doing good and very rarely causing problems. When too stimulated or enforced, it can make you overindulge in something - but you probably would not complain about it.
Venus in the ZodiacHere are short descriptions of how each Zodiac sign influences Venus, your pleasurous desires, when that's where it is in your natal chart.
Aries brings creative urge and delight.
Taurus brings enjoyment of simple things and of pleasuring the senses.
Gemini brings playfulness and a delight in erotic adventures.
Cancer brings a capacity to play on the emotions of others, to charm, please and delight.
Leo brings great charm that seduces others, and a delight in oneself.
Virgo brings a fine sense for detail and a capacity to handle complicated things.
Libra brings loyalty in any partnership, and a talent for joining with others.
Scorpio brings an attraction for the bizarre and a talent for fascinating others.
Sagittarius brings delight in keeping a distance and talent for visual arts.
Capricorn brings a capacity to easily get things done, and technical skills.
Aquarius brings inspired thoughts and great ideas.
Pisces brings warm affection for just about everyone and everything.
KeywordsHere are the twelve Zodiac signs, and keywords for the character they give to Venus, i.e. your pleasurous desires:
RulerVenus rules over both Libra and Taurus, which means that it tends to be the most obvious and enforced in those signs. It may be regarded as exalting in Cancer and Virgo, but there is no astrological consensus about that. It is not really weakened in any Zodiac sign, because of its own beneficial capacity, but it might be sligthly less suited for Aries and Sagittarius, maybe also for Pisces.
Planet ageEach of the heavenly bodies represents a period in your life of about seven years. In the case of Venus it is the yearsa of puberty, because of its connection to love and the erotic aspects. That's approximately from 14 to 21 years of age. The position of Venus in your horoscope reveals what that period of your life is like, generally speaking. This also means that the erotic experiences you have at that age to a large extent form your sexual and erotic preferences for life.
I'm a Swedish writer and astrologer. Apart from fiction, I've written several books about astrology and spirituality. I'm also a historian of ideas, researching the thought patterns in creation myths. Google Profile. Here's my personal website: stenudd.com
By authentic astrology I mean proper use of the horoscope, according to astrological theory. The complete horoscope chart consists of many more components than your star sign (where the sun was at your birth). The latter has quite limited applications, which should be respected. This website deals mainly with the complete horoscope, and states clearly when that's not the case.
About This WebsiteWelcome to the world of astrology and horoscopes! Here you find an introduction to the basics of astrology, in-depth presentations of the Zodiac and your sun sign, astrological predictions based on the outer planets, famous horoscopes and elaborate forecasts.
Mundane AstrologyHere are also several examples of mundane astrology - astrological principles applied to institutions, countries and the whole world. This way of using astrology was in the past much more common than personal horoscopes.
Astrology BasicsThe astrology basics present the astrological components and their significance in the personal horoscope. They are the twelve Zodiac signs, the twelve planets, the twelve Houses, and the five aspects.
There are astrologers who use additional celestial bodies, as well as additional aspects. I stick to the horoscope fundamentals specified by Ptolemy, the Greek mathematician of the 2nd century CE, in his classic on astrology: Tetrabiblos. It's the primary source to western astrology.
